Traumatic brain injury occurs when sudden trauma occurs to the brain. The injury can be mild, moderate, or severe; can impact motor and/or sensory areas of the brain; can result in temporary or permanent mobility, vision, cognitive, and emotional impairments; and traumatic brain injury can be lethal. Multiple injuries can occur to brain physiology and chemistry as a result of a single event or from multiple events, such as a fall, automobile accident, gunshot wound, and/or blast injury.
